What Red LED flashing Means
On the RF24-D refrigerated drawers, a flashing red LED with a tone means the drawers have been outside their normal temperature range for their set point for about an hour. The DCS guide presents it as a warning that the contents may have been too warm or too cold for long-term storage. It adds that a set-point change of more than 10°F or heavy use can set it off without anything being wrong.
Common Causes of Red LED flashing
- Large set-point change or heavy restocking (normal per the guide)
- Condenser airflow blocked at the kick plate
- Drawer gasket not sealing after years of outdoor sun
- Condenser fan or compressor not running
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Think back: did someone change the setting by a large amount, restock with warm drinks or leave a drawer open? If so, reset with a one-second press of ON/OFF and check again in a few hours. If the red LED returns without any of that, check the kick-plate grille for blockage and book a visit if it keeps coming back.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- When airflow and gaskets are fine, the remaining causes are the fan, the compressor start parts or the sealed system, which need testing under power and EPA-certified refrigerant handling for any sealed-system work.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
