What F4 Means
F4 is the opposite reading to F3 on WO-series DCS ovens: a shorted oven sensor. The board sees almost no resistance on the sensor circuit, which it cannot turn into a believable temperature, so it cancels the oven and shows F4.
Common Causes of F4
- Sensor wires pinched and touching behind the oven cavity
- Sensor insulation broken down by heat
- Sensor failed internally
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Cancel the oven and let it cool. A short often happens where the sensor lead is pinched behind the cavity or where insulation has cooked and cracked. Leave the testing to the visit; the oven should not be used while F4 is present.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Finding a pinched lead means pulling the oven out and following the harness along the back of a 240-volt appliance.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
