What F3 Means
F3 on the DCS WO-series wall ovens is an open oven sensor. The temperature control board reads no circuit through the oven probe, as if the sensor were unplugged. Without a reading, the board cancels that oven and shows F3 in its temperature display.
Common Causes of F3
- Oven sensor failed open after years of self-clean heat
- Sensor connector loose at the back of the cavity
- Sensor wire broken where it passes through the insulation
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Cancel the oven. If it happened right after the oven was moved or serviced, the sensor connector may simply have come loose behind the oven. Leave the breaker on only long enough to note the code, then call. There is no owner-side test for the sensor.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The sensor plugs in behind the oven, so the oven has to be unscrewed and slid out of the cabinet, which is heavy work on a double unit.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
