What F2 Means
F2 on DCS WO-series wall ovens is the over-temperature alarm. The temperature control board has seen the cavity run hotter than it allows, and it shuts that oven down, shows F2 in the red temperature digits and sounds the alarm tone. It can appear during baking, broiling or self-clean.
Common Causes of F2
- Oven temperature sensor reading low so the elements overshoot
- Heating relay stuck on
- Foil or a stone on the oven floor trapping heat near the sensor area
- Cooling fan not running during high-heat or clean cycles
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Cancel the oven and leave the door closed while it cools; opening a very hot oven feeds it air. Once cool, check that nothing like a pizza stone or foil liner was sitting on the oven floor, since DCS warns against blocking airflow. If F2 comes back on an empty oven, stop using it.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Diagnosing over-temperature means checking the sensor resistance, the relays and the cooling fan with the oven pulled out of its cabinet on its 240-volt supply.
- An oven that has overheated may have scorched wiring behind the side panels that needs inspection before it is used again.
