What A1 Means
On the DCS WOSV230 single and WODV230 double wall ovens, codes starting with A are user alerts rather than part failures. A1 means the oven has overheated: the service manual lists the area around the power board, the clock board or the cavity itself as having run too hot. DCS expects the alert to clear by itself once the oven cools.
Common Causes of A1
- Cooling fan not running or running only at low speed
- Oven vent blocked, trapping heat around the electronics
- Cavity temperature sensor reading wrongly
- Power board or clock module reading its own temperature wrongly
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn the oven off and let it cool with power on so the cooling fan can run. Check that the vent below the door is not blocked by a towel or a drawer front, and that the oven is not being run for hours in a very hot kitchen. If A1 comes back regularly, the cooling fan should be checked.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Testing the cooling fan at both speeds is done in the technician mode, and replacing it means pulling the oven from the cabinet.
- Switching off the breaker while the oven is hot stops the fan that protects the electronics and cabinetry.
