What ICE flashing Means
On the DCS RF15I outdoor ice machines, “ICE” flashing continuously with no tone is the system sensor error: the condenser temperature sensor has failed. Unlike the bin sensor error, the machine keeps making ice, but it can no longer adjust its freeze and harvest cycle to the outdoor temperature. Expect thin, cloudy or uneven cubes, especially on hot afternoons.
Common Causes of ICE flashing
- Condenser temperature sensor open or shorted
- Corroded connector on the condenser sensor from outdoor humidity
- Sensor dislodged from the condenser tubing during cleaning
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Do not confuse it with ECO mode setup, where “ICE” also flashes while you are choosing between Normal and ECO. If you were not in the options menu, the flashing is the sensor error. The machine can keep running; clean the front grille so the condenser gets air, and book a sensor replacement.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The condenser sensor is clipped to refrigerant tubing behind the lower grille, next to the compressor and fan wiring.
- The ice machine has to be disconnected from water and drain and slid out of its opening to reach it.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
