What Hi Means
Hi on a DCS RF24RE / RF24LE refrigerator or RF24T / RF24BT beer dispenser means the compartment has run 10 degrees or more above the set point for longer than an hour. The Alarm light comes on and the unit beeps once a second until the temperature comes back. DCS notes it is normal during the first pull-down after installation, after long door openings or after loading a lot of warm product.
Common Causes of Hi
- Normal pull-down after first start or heavy warm loading
- Front grille or condenser blocked by debris, restricting heat rejection
- Door not sealing because the gasket is torn or the cabinet is out of level
- Condenser fan or compressor not running
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If the unit was just started, loaded with warm cans or the door was open for cleaning, give it a few hours with the door closed. Otherwise, clear anything blocking the front grille, check that the outdoor location is not in direct afternoon sun on a very hot day, and confirm the door is sealing. After a Hi alarm, DCS asks owners to check perishables before using them.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- When the grille is clear and the door seals but Hi keeps returning, the likely causes are a failed fan, a start relay or a refrigerant problem, all of which need proper test equipment.
- Sealed-system work, including any leak search, requires EPA-certified refrigerant handling.
