A DCS cooktop or RGT rangetop that will not light on one burner is almost always isolated to that burner’s own igniter electrode, valve or orifice, since each burner is wired and plumbed as its own circuit even on a single cast unit. Continuous clicking after a burner has already lit usually means a spark module or a nearby electrode is staying energized rather than the lit burner itself having a problem.
On RGT rangetops with a griddle plate, uneven heating is checked at the burner beneath the plate before the plate itself is suspected, since a plate that looks warped can simply be reflecting an underlying flame that is no longer even. Cast grates and burner caps that have discolored from years of heat are a cosmetic issue on their own, but warping can start to affect how evenly a pot sits and heats, which is worth mentioning at booking if it has gotten noticeably worse.
As with any gas cooking appliance, a smell of gas near the cooktop means shutting off the gas supply and not attempting to light any burner until a licensed professional has checked it.
