What F8 Means
F8 is the shorted meat probe alarm on DCS WO-series wall ovens. The control reads the probe circuit as a short, which happens when the probe cable is crushed in the door, its plug is wet, or the probe has failed.
Common Causes of F8
- Probe cable pinched in the oven door or burned against an element
- Water inside the probe plug after washing
- Probe failed internally
- Probe socket or its wiring shorted
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Cancel the oven and unplug the probe from the socket. If the code clears, the probe is the problem: inspect the cable for a crushed or melted section and let the plug dry fully if it was washed. Cook without the probe until it is replaced. If F8 shows with no probe plugged in, the socket or its wiring needs a technician.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The socket is wired to the temperature control board behind the cavity wall; if F8 remains with the probe out, the oven has to come out of the cabinet.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
