What A3 Means
A3 is the other half of the door lock alert on DCS WOSV230 and WODV230 ovens: the self-clean cycle has finished but the door cannot be unlocked. The service manual’s own tip is that pressing on the door while it tries to unlock can let the latch disengage.
Common Causes of A3
- Latch held under tension by door pressure
- Lock motor failed after the clean cycle heat
- Unlock switch not reporting the latch position
- Thermal limiter tripped and cutting power to the lock motor
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Wait until the oven has cooled fully. Then press gently on the door near the top while turning the function knob to OFF, which is the DCS suggestion. Do not pull hard on the handle. If the door stays locked after cooling, book the visit and leave the oven powered.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Opening a locked door without releasing the latch usually breaks the lock hook or the door liner.
- The manually resettable thermal limiters are behind the oven’s top panel and are part of the technician’s checks.
