What Oven mode knob flashing white Means
A white, flashing halo on the OVEN MODE knob of an RGV2, RDV2 or RGCV2 range is listed by DCS as a technical error. It is the only one of the three knob alerts where the guide gives no reset step; the instruction is to contact service. On these ranges the oven also has a motorized self-clean door lock and a cooling fan, and a technical error can involve either.
Common Causes of Oven mode knob flashing white
- Self-clean door lock not reaching its locked or unlocked position
- Cooling fan not running or its sensor switch not closing
- Oven control board detecting an internal error
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn the oven knobs to OFF and do not start a CLEAN cycle. Do not switch the breaker off while the oven is hot, because DCS relies on the cooling fan to protect the cabinetry. If the door is locked, leave it until the oven has cooled. Then book service with the model and serial number from the rating plate.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The door lock motor and switches sit above the oven cavity under the cooktop, which on gas models means working around the burner box and gas lines.
- Forcing a door that is still locked bends the latch and can crack the inner glass.
