What Temperature knob flashing orange Means
On the same RGV2, RDV2 and RGCV2 ranges, the TEMPERATURE knob halo normally changes color to show preheat: white while the oven is heating and orange once it reaches the set temperature, sometimes alternating as the oven holds temperature. The alert table lists a flashing orange TEMPERATURE halo as an electronics error, which is separate from that normal white-to-orange behavior.
Common Causes of Temperature knob flashing orange
- Oven temperature sensor reading out of range
- Temperature selector switch or its wiring damaged by heat
- Oven control board error after a power surge
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Do not confuse this with the normal slow alternation between white and orange during cooking, which DCS says is expected. Rapid flashing is the alert. Turn both oven knobs off and reset power at the breaker, as DCS directs. If the flashing returns, stop using the oven and book service.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- On gas ranges the oven sensor sits beside the bake burner and its gas valve, so checking it is a gas-appliance repair for a licensed technician.
- An oven that is still heating with a sensor error can overshoot temperature, so it is safer to leave it off than to keep testing it.
