The BG36-BQARN is the 36-inch natural-gas model in DCS’s BG guide. After many years outdoors, the brackets that hold the burners in position can rust away, letting burners drop off line with their orifices. That is structural work inside the firebox and is worth doing before new burners go in.
Flaking inside the hood is mostly carbonized grease, not the metal itself, and cleans off.
